Volunteer to help Hurricane Sandy victims

Just over a week ago Hurricane Sandy made landfall leaving many Americans on the east coast in need.

There are many ways to help the east coast recover from this devastating storm. Several national organizations asking for assistance include:

1. The Salvation Army is providing hot meals, water and shelter to the victims from this storm.  To help them in their effort you can donate money on their website.

2. The American Red Cross is collecting blood to serve those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.  To donate blood make an appointment at the American Red Cross near you.  The American Red Cross Disaster Relief is also asking for monetary donations, so they can continue to offer shelter, clothing, supplies and food to these victims.

3. The Humane Society is assisting in pet searches and rescues in New York and New Jersey. If you would like to help with their effort to return pets to their owners you can donate to their disaster relief fund.

There are also many local organizations assisting in efforts to get the east coast back on its feet.  To find out how your favorite organization is helping with Hurricane Sandy relief make sure to call them or visit their website.
