Often times we receive requests from companies or organizations asking for volunteer opportunities that multiple people can do. While, we have connections with organizations in Central Texas that can use multiple volunteers, sometime it can be a challenge to coordinate service projects for large groups.
We recently ran across this great post on coyotecommunications.com on group volunteering that contains great tips and suggestions for group volunteering. So instead of repeating everything they’ve said here, please read their post for more information.
Also, be sure to check our website and Facebook page for volunteer opportunities! We appreciate you!
Happy Earth Day!
Recently, we were sent a story about a mother and daughter who are taking “defective t-shirts” and turning them into reusable shopping bags. The mother went on to say her daughter became very excited about giving back and even learned how to use the sewing machine to make these bags. At the time of their email, the family made 600 bags and distributed them at Austin’s Earth Day Celebration.
While this is one example of thousands, if not millions, of Earth Day celebrations happening throughout the world today what caught our eye the most is the title of the email with this story – ‘Every day should be Earth Day.’
Today, millions of people will be participating in Earth Day- activities from planting gardens, cleaning up parks to riding bikes/walking instead of driving or even taking items and recycling them into something else.
While these activities help make our planet a better place, it’s important to remember that you don’t need a special day to participate in similar activities. With just an hour or so you can volunteer your time to help make the Earth a better place any day of the week.
How are you celebrating Earth Day?
